I fondly remember that first win over Newtown (in fact, I think it was my birthday). Anyway, the point is Ryan Hoffman and Dane Tilse have never been good enough to play for the Bears, but this week both their fathers have been honoured with spots in the back row. I know, they're slightly out of position but I'm confident they'll do a job for us on the edges and allow our new Beau-tiful halves pairing to create some opportunities.

The full squad is:
FB Anthony Milford
W James Roberts
C Jarrod Croker
C Keith Lulia
W Sosaia Feki
FE Beau Champion
HF Beau Henry
BR Jay Hoffman
BR Mick Tilse
BR Jayson Bukuya
FR James Graham
HK Michael Ennis
FR David Shillington
ResBK Krisnan Inu
ResBK Jordan Kahu
ResFD Luke Bailey
ResFD Kane Evans
Kicker Jarrod Croker

So I've just managed to find the line-up from that first win (it was actually the day after my birthday, but near enough) The Jets scored 3 tries to 2, but the boot of Steve O'Callaghan got the green machine home. Mick Tilse didn't play that game - he was probably suspended  Laughing It's funny seeing the names of guys that I was playing with and against just 12 months earlier (cue the string section)

Good luck this weekend guys

Aardvarks vs Golden Showers

Post  aardvark on Thu May 22, 2014 7:10 pm

Back before the NRL, before the Broncos, there was the local BRL, as in the Brisbane Rugby League competition, and during this time, it was a very strong competition with some great players, many who became household names either playing for QLD or getting poached  pirat by the Sydney teams with their Pokies driven clubs full of cash. Names like Lewis, Meninga, Oliphant, Platz, Vautin, Vievers spring to mind... One of the first games I remember was seeing my Eastern Suburbs Tigers up against the Past Brothers Leprechauns who had this fullback who could play a bit - his name was Wayne Bennett....

Anyway, to fill the many gaps in our side this week, we're going to recognise past players from our local Intrust Cup Team and former BRL side, the Eastern Suburbs Tigers who still play out of Langlands Park today as they did all those years ago.

The Aardvarks for the game against the Showers noted below -;
[Also includes a few shadow players for likely non-starters]

Reece Robinson
Curtis Rona
Ricky Leutele
Kevin Gordon (John Eales)
Kyle Feldt (Steve Stacey)
Steve Farquhar
Luke Brooks
Ethan Lowe
Joel Reithmuller
Feleti Mateo
Josh McGuire
Johnny Lang
Sam Moa
Roger Kuhn
Wayne Lindenberg

Des Morris
James Gavet (Rod Morris)
Reece Robinson

Round 11 teams - fill the gaps!

Post  Gutsy on Thu May 15, 2014 8:57 pm

With this the first of a number of bye-influenced rounds, the challenge for this first one is to fill the gaps in your team with legends from your favourite NRL team.

For example, if you are a Gold Coast Chargers fan, and have no available back rower, then Bob Lindner would be a certainty (although the more random the names the better, so maybe you could choose Jeremy Schloss)

Anyways - Showers for Round 11 below

Showers
Phil Jelley
Manu Vatuvei
Brad Tighe
Daniel Vidot
Sam Perrett
Albert Kelly
Mitchell Pearce
Mitch Aubusson
Dave Taylor
Paul Carter
Stan Jurd
Glen Buttriss
Lew Platz
Neville Glover
Paul Carige
Jason Taumalolo
Wade Graham
Albert Kelly
